Monthly Informational Divorce Options Workshops to be Held at Hudson Valley Locations

Even though the divorce rate in N.Y. State is declining, approximately 50 percent of marriages will end in divorce. Despite the war stories, divorces can be resolved with a minimum of bitterness if both sides are well informed about the many choices they face. In a new monthly series of public education workshops, Divorce Options™, trained and experienced legal, financial and mental health professionals will explain the options available.

Divorce Options workshops will be held each month in White Plains, Fishkill and Poughkeepsie and provide participants with the basic knowledge they need to select the best divorce process option for them and their family. Conducted by members of the Hudson Valley Collaborative Divorce and Dispute Resolution Association as a community service, the sessions help couples understand and navigate the often overwhelming process of divorce including peaceful divorce through mediation, collaborative or cooperative divorce and court litigation. The Divorce Options workshop provides unbiased information to help divorcing spouses deal with issues of guilt, anger and grief and move forward with their transition from married to single life.

After attending the Divorce Options Workshop, couples can begin to plan their divorce through the process that best suits them and which will be least disruptive in regard to parenting and the division of property and money.

Cost for the three-hour Divorce Options workshop is $45 cash/check (no credit cards) at the door. Advance online registration is available for $40. Mental health professionals and clergy can attend for free by presenting a business card. Advance registration is not required.
