Scarsdale Police Hunt for Thief Who Swiped $5K in Electronics

Local authorities in Scarsdale are on the hunt for the person who swiped nearly $6,000 in electronics from a Fox Meadow Road home last week.

Three girls from Manhattan were visiting a Scarsdale resident Tuesday of last week when they slipped out of the home in the late morning to grab lunch downtown, police said. The women closed the door but did not lock it, according to reports.

When they returned an hour later, the home had been cleaned out by a thief: police said four Apple laptops, along with an iPad and other electronics, were pilfered. The total cost of missing items was $5,813.

Victims and the police contacted the man who rents the home; he currently lives in France, but his wife—who lives in Scarsale—came to the crime scene and noted items belonging to her had been swiped, as well, cops said.

Police are treating the case as three counts of grand larceny and one count of burglary, all felonies, and one count of petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

No arrests have been made.
