Scarsdale School Board & Budget Election Results Are In

The voters decided on the $185M Scarsdale schools budget and which candidates will serve on the board of education.

SCARSDALE, NY β€” The ballots are in and voters have decided on the 2024 budget and school board.

Two seats were open on the Scarsdale Union Free School District Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $184,934,125 was passed by voters. The new budget is 4.03 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to rise 4.45 percent, which required a 60 percent voter approval. This levy amounts to a $1,060 increase for the median assessed home in Scarsdale, which is $187 more than the tax cap. It amounts to a $2,355 reduction for median assessed homes in Mamaroneck, which is $203 more than the tax cap.

District officials said that the budget will support: new STEAM courses, special education: continuum of services & CSE process improvements, addressing flooding and stormwater, safety and security improvements, a new website and communication system.

Two board seats were up for election. Leah Dembitzer and James Dugan (incumbent) were elected to those seats.
