GREENBURGH TO BEGIN CURBSIDE PICKUP OF FOOD SCRAPS IN SPRING, 2026

PLEASE TAKE SURVEY PREPARED BY IONA COLLEGE STUDENTS (LINK BELOW)

I anticipate that the Town of Greenburgh will begin curbside pickup of food scrap recycling in the spring of 2026. WE have had a great response to our drop off food scrap locations at AF Veteran Park and at Town Hall –a program we started in 2018. If we pick up food scraps at residents homes more people will participate. Participation willhelp us reduce the amount of garbage collected. Scarsdale and Mamaroneck also have been picking up food scraps at curbside- at people’s homes. The Greenburgh Conservation Advisory Council has been leading the effort to encourage the Town Board to implement this initiative and has appeared at Town Board meetings. Thank you!

Earlier this year the Business Council of Westchester encouraged the town to work with CityLabs at Iona University. I have been meeting with students, brainstorming ideas about food scrap recycling and asking for suggestions how we can encourage those who do not currently recycle food scraps to change their habits and to participate in this exciting new initiative..

The students have asked me to promote a survey they designed.
