Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

STEM Tinkering Nights
STEM Alliance is looking for high school- and college-aged volunteers (between ages 14 and 22) to assist elementary school children and their parents with building simple STEM-related crafts projects. No experience is needed — just an enthusiasm for helping young kids explore the joys of science, engineering and math.
Date: April 3 from 5-6 p.m. and 6-7:45 p.m.

Neighborhood Recycling Campaign Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help deliver door hangers with a friendly message to households that have not placed recycling bins at the curb for pick up. By hanging these messages on local doorknobs, the village hopes to increase recycling rates in 2024. Volunteers must be 17+.
Date: April 3 & April 10 from 5-8 p.m.

Heels & Wheels 5K Road Race and Walk
Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is hosting its Heels & Wheels 5K Road Race and Fun Run, and it needs volunteer help with everything from pre-event setup to course marshals to refreshment stations. Volunteers must be 17+.
Date: April 7 from 8-11:30 a.m.

Adaptive Tennis Volunteers
Fun For Cure's Adaptive Tennis FUN program is looking for energetic and positive volunteers to motivate and build the confidence of children with special and/or medical needs. Under the guidance of the Program Leaders, volunteers will make sure the children are safe and focusing on the activities, toss the balls to children during tennis drills and help with other activities. No tennis skills are required — just smiles and kindness.
Date: April 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Sundays
