Wet Weather, Unsafe Roads in Scarsdale

Scarsdale, Greenburgh combat icy roads.

As a thin-but-slick layer of snow coats Scarsdale streets and sidewalks, local DPW crews are scrambling to clear the way for motorists.

Snow is expected to continue until 5 p.m. today, in tandem with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark. About one-to-two inches of precipitation is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Scarsdale Schools called a two-hour delay Friday morning due to slippery roads.

Feiner said garbage pick-up remains a go, but may be delayed due to the snow.

"It takes us five or six hours to plow every street in the town," he added. "During prolonged snows we could be on a street plowing, [and] five minutes later the road is a mess again."
