1. Steven Vitagliano from Mastic was arrested for scamming customers with over $20,000. Vitagliano would verbally agree to install fences for customers, but after the initial payment he requested, he would cut communication off. (Daily Voice)
   
2. No registration is required to participate in the Nature Walk at Smith Point on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Library staff will wait for attendees at the Flight 800 Memorial at 6 p.m. The event is open to all. (MMSCL)
3. Nearby News: A new Starbucks is aimed to be built where the Astoria Bank once stood at 718 Route 112 in Patchogue. The 718 Medford LLC is applying to change the business zone, so the coffee shop with a drive-thru can start to be projected. (Greater Long Island)
4. A man is sought by police for stealing $400 worth of merchandise from the Kohl's located at 999 Montauk Highway in Shirley. The security cameras caught the suspect leaving the establishment with unpaid perfumes. (Daily Voice)
