  1. The jury selection of the ex-NYPD Officer, Michael Valva's trial is completed. The trial is scheduled to start on Sept. 28. Valva is facing charges for the death of his son, Thomas Valva, who died after being left in an unheated garage in January. (Patch)
  2. The Shirley/Mastic Chamber of Commerce has announced on its website that Inaugural Texas Hold'em Tournament has been canceled. The event was scheduled for Sept. 30 at the Hotel Indigo East End. (Shirley/Mastic CofC)
  3. The Mastic Recreation Center has a special "Playspace" for those looking for kid's outings in the area. The fun starts at noon on Sunday, Sept. 18. in the Rec Center Small Room. (MMSC Library)
