- William Petersohn, 30, of Mastic, was charged with driving under the influence and causing a crash that caused a chain reaction that nearly killed a police officer. Peterson's next court appearance is scheduled for May 24. The sentence most likely will be six months in jail and five years on probation. (Patchogue Patch)
- Come to the MMS Community Library and get crafty to celebrate Mother's Day! Create a mother's day card to be gifted to the mother figure in your life! The program starts at 4 p.m. on May 3. (MMSCL)
- A group of activists gathered in front of the Tikki's bar in Patchogue to protest against the bar's advertisement for the Cinco de Mayo events. The Latino community claims the flyer was racist and wanted to boycott the event. Owner Michael Bruemmer said the ad was humorous and did not intend to offend any group. (News12)
- An European-style restaurant, Colosso Di Rodi Greek Bistro, is set for its grand opening in downtown Patchogue next month. The new spot is located at 58 S. Ocean Avenue and will be ready to serve its delights at the end of May. (Greater LI)
