1. A woman is being sought by Suffolk Police for shoplifting at the Stop & Shop grocery store in Shirley. The crime occurred on Monday, Aug. 29, at 999 Montauk Highway. Anyone with information that can lead to identification is requested to call 1-800-220-TIPS. (Daily Voice)
2. Suffolk County Department of Health Services is hosting a free diabetes prevention program. The meetings will start on Sept. 21. Access the flyer with details here. (MMSC Library)
3. Smith Point Bridge Run for Literacy is set for Saturday, Sept. 10. Registration is open. Runners will hit the ground at 9 a.m. with the MMS Community Library. "Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome!" (Patch)
4. Nearby News: A canoe sculpture at the corner of South Ocean Avenue and Terry Street in Patchogue was stolen. According to the Village Clerk, Lori Devlin, the theft happened between Wednesday and Friday last week. (Patch)
