- Two males broke into a home in Mastic Beach and sexually assaulted a resident before fleeing from the scene. The crime happened on Tuesday afternoon; police are asking for the public's help to identify and arrest the two individuals. The woman, whose ID hadn't been released, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (Patch)
- MMS Community Library will host a Parenting a Second Time Around (PASTA) meeting on April 25 at 6 p.m. PASTA is a support group for grandparents or caregivers who are raising grandchildren or relatives. (MMSCL)
- All are welcome to celebrate Earth Day with The Mastic Beach Conservancy on April 23 (rain date April 24). Participants will meet at Marina 5, located at 732 Riviera Drive, Mastic Beach, at 10 a.m. to clean up the Cranberry Pier, Marina 5, and Sheep Pen Creek. - Long Island's major roads will be repaved this spring and summer. An investment of $157 million is approved, and Gov. Kathy Hochul confirmed the repave plan on Tuesday. Major work on Long Island Expressway is expected to start this week. (Pix11)
