Teen Cuffed After Swiping SUV, Crashing It Into Home On Long Island: Police
He evaded capture for around an hour and a half before being found with help of a K-9 Unit, Suffolk police say.
LONG ISLAND, NY — A teenage boy was arrested after swiping an SUV and crashing it into a home in Suffolk County on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Officers were called to a Lynbrook Drive home in Mastic Beach after a 2010 Mazda CX-9 crashed into it at around 4:24 p.m., and two males inside ran away, police said, adding, that it was determined the vehicle had been parked down the block and was stolen right before the crash.
Details of the car theft were not immediately available.

No one was injured in the crash, but the house's exterior sustained minor damage, according to police.
Officers, along with K-9 Unit officers canvassed the surrounding area, and found a 16-year-old boy about an hour and a half later at 6 p.m., police said.

He has been charged with first-degree robbery and is being held overnight at the 7th Precinct in Shirley, and will be arraigned at the Youth Part of First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
He is not being identified due to his status as a minor.
