Administration, Board of Ed Present Awards to Top District Musicians

The school district kicked-off Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting by presenting awards to the top junior and senior musicians in the district.

The NYSSMA All-State and All-County NYSCAME and the SCMEA musicians were presented awards by Superintendent Edward Ehmann, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Administration Maria Rianna, and Board of Education President Gladys Waldron.

Ehmann said participating in music programs in school is a great tool to prepare them for post high school situations.

“We try to give students experiences throughout their education so that they can prepare themselves for the rigors of the real world … there’s nothing better to prepare you for the rigors of real world than NYSSMA,” he said. “You have to learn a piece, you have to practice it, and then you have to perform it in front of an adjudicator who is going to assess you and you’re going to find out how you did and have to deal with the anxiety of that whole process.”
