Body of NYC Police Officer Recovered

The US Coast Guard station in Northport has confirmed that the body of New York City police officer and Smithtown native Patrick Luca was recovered Saturday afternoon.

Luca was 41 years old.

. The boy was not hospitalized and later returned to his mother, police said.

New York City Police helicopters landed in the parking area at the bluff at roughly 8 p.m. Friday, as well as a truck holding sonar equipment. Police spent five hours conducting a water, aerial and 4-wheel-drive vehicle search along the shoreline.
