Cops: 3 Charged in String of Auto Break-Ins

Trio shattered windows of vehicles parked at a cemetery, a church and gyms, including in Smithtown, police say.

Three people shattered car windows, stealing items from vehicles parked at cemeteries, churches and gyms, Suffolk authorities said.

Now Steven Glover, 26, and Sierra Green 20, both of Wyandanch, and Inesha Stephan, 23, of Huntington Station, face larceny charges for a string of break-ins occurring from Nov. 30, 2014, through Jan. 14, 2015, according to Suffolk Police.

Detectives say the trio broke into 11 vehicles at St. Charles Cemetery in East Farmingdale, while people visited graves on several different dates. They also broke into vehicles at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bay Shore.

And police say the suspects targeted the following gyms:

  • Retro Fitness in Deer Park
  • Planet Fitness in Melville
  • Eastern Athletic Club in Melville
  • Gold’s Gym in Smithtown
  • LA Fitness in Patchogue
  • Bally Total Fitness in Bay Shore
  • Lucille Roberts in Bay Shore

The suspects often broke a window in the vehicle where they saw pocketbooks or property that was visible from the outside, police say.

Glover was charged with 33 counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and for a parole violation. Green was charged with 26 counts of fourth-degree grand larceny. Stephan was charged with five counts of fourth-degree grand larceny.

They are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
