SOUTH CAROLINA — The 6-year-old daughter of former Lake Grove residents is battling acute lymphoblastic b-cell leukemia.

Aubree Jo Cerruti was diagnosed in March 2022. Her parents, Robert and Kara, moved down to South Carolina a few months before her diagnosis. Aubree has a younger sister, Carmella.

"Aubree's laugh is infectious and her sense of humor is perfection," her mother, Kara, wrote on the GoFundMe.

She is the "sweet of the sweet and spicy combo" that is Aubree and Carmella, Kara said.

Then, Aubree was diagnosed with ALL.

"To say we were shocked was an understatement," Kara wrote. "This beautiful, vivacious, precious, funny and extremely intelligent little girl has CANCER? Of course, as her mama (and daddy too) I had to step up in ways you can't even begin to imagine."

Aubree's diagnosis has led to long car rides, eating out often, hospital stays, blood draws, surgeries, chemotherapies and oral medications.

Medicine still costs the Cerruti family, and Aubree has been on steroids for months, causing her appetite to increase. That has led to increases in bills including groceries and gas.

"Aubree will drop to her knees no matter where she is and pray, this little girl knows that the Lord loves her," Robert wrote in a Facebook post. "Though she has been praying a lot lately."

Aubree is doing great, Robert said. She is slated to ring the bell on June 4 and "will be cancer free, beating this 2.5-year journey."

Aubree’s interests include: the Disney princesses, Disney in general, unicorns, zoos, puzzles, painting, drawing, arts and crafts, swimming pools, playing with her younger sister and friends, giraffes, her three dogs, Babs, Buster and Besty, and her two rabbits, Salty and Sally, as well as her school, Harvest Community in Summerton, South Carolina.
