Half of Smithtown Has Power Restored
Most St. James, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue still without power.

Three days after Hurricane Irene touched down, half of Smithtown is has had power restored.
According to the LIPA outage map, out of 9,982 customers in Smithtown, 4,293 are still without power.
More than 2,000 homes in Smithtown have had power restored in the past 24 hours as .

Neighboring towns are not as fortunate, however, as a majority of St. James, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue are still in the dark.
In St. James, 3,327 of 5,444 customers do not have power; 690 of 808 customers in Village of the Branch are without power; 569 of 679 customers in Nissequogue are in the dark; and 389 of 599 Head of the Harbor customers still do not have power.

Throughout the Town of Smithtown, of 41,519 customers, 17,456 have not had their power restored.
