House Speaker Boehner Coming to Smithtown for Altschuler Fundraiser
Fundraising battle continues as rematch in New York's First Congressional District heats up.

Speaker of the House John Boehner will be coming to St. James to help raise money for Randy Altschuler as money continues to pour into the rematch between the Republican challenger and incumbent Democrat Tim Bishop.
According to Newsday, Boehner, R-Ohio,Β will be attending a fundraiser at the private home of Stephen and Carolyn Louro in Nissequogue, not far from Altschuler's St. James residence.
As the two candidates started debating last week, ads have been hitting the airwaves and fliers from several different organizations β namely, state committees and super PACs β started arriving in potential voters' mailboxes.

, topping Altschuler by fewer than 600 votes after more than 180,000 votes were cast.
Boehner will visit Suffolk Oct. 10, reportedly making a couple of other fundraising stops in New York while he's in the area. Newsday reports that tickets at the private party start at $250, with VIP photo ops going for $1,000 and a VIP roundtable for $5,000.

Louro, named one of Long Island Business News' top 40 under 40 in 2001, founded Professional Group Plans in the early 1990s and according to tax records, pays one of the highest property tax bills in Smithtown β more than $80,000 last year.
Louro's company is headquartered in the Hauppauge Industrial Park, with additional locations in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. PGP employs more than 100 people, and specializes in offering group health insurance to other companies.
