Local to Play in Alzheimer's Foundation Basketball Classic

Senior guard at St. Anthony's High School Brendan Gallagher will play in the second annual basketball classic to benefit the Long Island Alzheimers Foundation.

Smithtown native and St. Anthony’s High School student Brendan Gallagher will participate in the 2011 All-Star Basketball Classic on Saturday, an event with proceeds going to the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The senior guard will hit the court at Molloy College in Rockville Centre with other high school basketball stars from Nassau and Suffolk County at 6 p.m.

According to the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation, there is a $10 admission fee and proceeds are donated to the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

reported that former St. John’s University basketball star and New York Knicks draftee Gordon Thomas formed the event in memory of his late father, Detective John Edward Thomas, Sr., who was diagnosed with dementia.
