Man Burglarized Several Suffolk Businesses: Police

The man threw objects at a glass door or window of the shops, police say. He committed six burglaries and attempted one other, police say.

LAKE GROVE, NY β€” A Lake Grove man was arrested Monday in connection with the burglary of several businesses since May, Suffolk police said.

Joseph Foresto, 67, broke into six businesses and tried to burglarize one other shop between May 18 and June 22, police said. During the burglaries, Foresto forced entry by throwing objects through a glass door or window to enter the closed businesses, police said.

Foresto was arrested at his home on Miller Drive at 12:25 p.m. and charged in connection with the following incidents, police said:

  • Broke the front door and stole cash from Tates Restaurant, at 292 Smithtown Blvd., Nesconset, at 1:22 a.m. May 18.
  • Broke a door and stole cash from Albert's Pizza, at 601 Portion Road in Ronkonkoma, sometime overnight May 18.
  • Broke a window and stole cash from Lake Grove Delicatessen, at 1003 Hawkins Ave., Lake Grove, at 3:15 a.m. May 20.
  • Broke the front door and stole cash from Escape the Room Game Long Island, at 718 Portion Road, Ronkonkoma, at 1:45 a.m. June 8.
  • Broke a window and stole cash from Lorenzo’s Pizza, at 600 Middle Country Road, St. James, at 2:15 a.m. June 14.
  • Broke the front door and stole cash from Rocco’s Pizza, at 255 Medford Ave., East Patchogue, sometime overnight on June 18.
  • Broke a window but was unsuccessful at entering Royal Pizza, at 299 Hawkins Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma, at 1:35 a.m. June 22.

Foresto was charged with six counts of third-degree burglary, one count of attempted burglary, and one count of criminal mischief.

He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
