The effects of a 5.8 magnitude Virginia earthquake could be felt throughout town.
The effects of a Mineral, Va. earthquake, northwest of Richmond, Va., could be felt throughout the town of Smithtown.
According to a HuffPost report, the 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook Washington, D.C., and north as far as Rhode Island and New York, and as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. HuffPost also reported that the U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was 3.7 miles deep.
