Customers of ShopRite in Commack had two special guests bagging groceries Wednesday as the public officials made an appearance to kick-off the company's "Partners In Caring" program.

To kick-off ShopRite’s β€œPartners In Caring” program in Commack, Town of Smithtown councilman Kevin Malloy, R- Smithtown, and Legis. John Kennedy Jr., R- Nesconset, bagged groceries for customers Wednesday afternoon.

The purpose of the program is to fight hunger problems within the community.

Seth Greenfield, co-owner of the Commack ShopRite, said the store’s human resources supervisor Joseph Giustini reached out to numerous local politicians to help kick-off the event, and both Malloy and Kennedy were happy to oblige.Β Β

β€œI think it shows their commitment to helping this cause and a little bit of humility too. It’s a pretty cool thing,” he said.

Co-owner of the store Jon Greenfield said in addition to the money the program raises all ShopRite’s will donate $10,000 to local food banks, and since the location is less than a year old both Malloy and Kennedy will help them identify areas in need of assistance locally.
