Saint James Man Struck By Van in Ronkonkoma, Hospitalized

Driver Philip Chase, of Ronkonkoma, was charged with a DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.

A Saint James man was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a van in Ronkonkoma, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

According to police, the 66-year-old unnamed man was struck by a 1992 Dodge van driven by Philip Chase, 37, of Ronkonkoma, on Avenue B near 4thΒ Street at 1:10 p.m. The Saint James resident was given first aid by Sixth Precinct Patrol Officer Simone Ross, and was later taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center by the Ronkonkoma Fire Department Ambulance.

Chase was charged with a DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. He also had an active arrest warrant at the time of the accident. Chase will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 3.
