Smithtown Notebook: Parades, Carnivals and Cell Towers

Here's a rundown of what took place at town hall this week in the Town of Smithtown.

Parades, Festivals, Carnivals and More

The town board had the first readings on numerous parades, festivals, carnivals, runs and more on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Eugene A. Cannataro Smithtown Senior Citizen Center. Second readings for the Neph Cure Foundation Annual Carnival, 911 Responders Remembered Park 5K Walk and the Saint James Chamber of Commerce Saint James Day Festival will be heard at the next meeting on Tuesday, March 8 at 2 p.m. The Saint James Chamber of Commerce Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was approved by the board after a second reading Thursday.

New Antenna and Tower Restoration Petitions Approved

Existing lattice towers will be replaced by monopoles, or single tube towers, after the town board approved Site Tech Wireless’ Special Exception Petitions were approved at the Thursday, Feb. 17 meeting.Β  The town board also approved Site Tech Wireless to install public utility wireless telecommunications antennas and other required equipment at two locations in Smithtown – 758 Smithtown Bypass and 65 Maple Avenue.

Site Tech Wireless will be heard for a petition to replace an existing pole with a monopole as well as to install antennas and related telecommunications equipment at 85 Old Northport Road in Kings Park. This hearing is set for March 24 at 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Smithtown Senior Citizen Center. Amber Court Realty will also be heard on March 24 at 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Smithtown Senior Citizen Center for a Special Exemption for construction of an assisted living facility on Lake Avenue in Nesconset.
