Smithtown Notebook: Town Eyes Parade Permits, Cell Towers
Here's a rundown of what took place at town hall this week in the Town of Smithtown.

Despite an icy week, Town of Smithtown officials managed to get some town business taken care of. Here's your rundown:
Parade Permits Considered
The town board considered a permit for the Saint James Chamber of Commerce for the St. James Saint Patrickβs Day Parade. The second meeting on this will be held on Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Smithtown Senior Center where it will likely be approved. At the same meeting, the board approved a permit for the Saint James-Smithtown Little League to hold the Little League Opening Day Parade on April 10.

Firm Nabs Contract
The town agreed to award Russell Reid Waste Hauling a contract for the removal of leachate, or liquid that drains from a landfill, from a bid that was opened Jan. 20. The Superintendent of Highways also paid Pavement Services Inc.Β for professional project planning, pavement analysis and testing services within the town. And the town hiredΒ James Faith Entertainment to provide entertainment services at the 2011 Summer Concert Series at Hoyt Farm Park.

No EIS needed for T-Mobile
The town has decided thatΒ an Environmental Impact Statement is unnecessary for the proposedΒ T-Mobile Northeast Tower on Kennedy Drive in Hauppauge.Β
