Smithtown School District Hosts 2nd Sports Equipment Donation Event

Families in need of sports equipment got to procure items for future use, saving them money, as well as space in landfills.

SMITHTOWN, NY β€” The Smithtown Green Team conducted its second sports equipment FreeCycle event, and it was a home-run, according to the school district.

Held during a two-week period in June, equipment from all types of sports, such as lacrosse, baseball, hockey, soccer and bicycles, were donated. Many families were able to find equipment that they needed for future use. This free event clears up space in family homes, saves families money on much needed equipment and saves space in landfills, which are "very close to capacity," according to the district.

The Smithtown Green Team, along with the Smithtown Athletic Department, the Smithtown Teachers Association, and the Smithtown Booster Club all contributed to the event.
