Tentative Town Budget to be Introduced at Public Hearing
Hearing is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Smithtown Senior Citizen Center.

The town board is set to introduce the tentative 2012 budget during Thursday night's public meeting.

Part of the increase, according to Superintendent of Highways Glenn Jorgensen, is to replenish surpluss funds used during the cleanup after Hurricane Irene, which cost approximately $1.4 million. The cleanup would cost taxpayers $19.90 per household.

While there is an increase close to $1 million, the tentative budget still falls below Gov. Andrew Cuomo's 2 percent tax cap. The increase from 2011 is .7 percent.
