Matt Borowski hit a grand slam to put Smithtown over Sachem 7-4 in the seventh inning, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish, on this day in 1993, according to the Newsday archives.
According to the report, Borowski’s grand slam came with one out with Smithtown down 4-3. Borowski hit two home runs and went 3-for-4 at the plate, also hitting a double, and racked up five RBIs in the League I matchup. Pitcher Marc Plesse got the win, which brought his record to 4-0, allowing only six hits.
Borowski is now the center-fielder for the Long Island Loons in the Men's Senior Baseball League.
