Town Opens Cooling Center in Smithtown

If you can't stand the heat anymore, head over to the Smithtown Senior Center. 

Smithtown town officials have opened up the Eugene Cannataro Senior Center, located at 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown, to residents looking to escape from the heat wave into an air-conditioned area. 

The senior center will be open to the public through July 19, from 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., according to the town's website. This extends the center's regular Monday - Friday hours. 

The senior center provides an alternative location to existing community resources including public libraries and air-conditioned eateries.
