  1. Volunteers are needed for the Meals on Wheels program that delivers hot food to the elderly citizens of the Town of Smithtown. The Citizen Department is experiencing a reduction of available drivers who serve 105 seniors in our community from Monday through Friday. The initiative was created to help those who can't step out of their homes easily to socialize due to medical conditions or other issues.   2. Paul Kutz of East Northport was fatally shot at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Poughkeepsie while visiting his son, who is attending Marist College. The tragedy happened when two homeless men opened fire. Roy Johnson Jr. and Devin Taylor were arrested for the shooting. (News12)
  3. The Smithtown Historical Society Christmas in October is Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be something for everyone, plus food, crafts and Santa's visit. (Long Island Events)
