Smithtown Teen Earns Eagle Scout Rank With Tribute To U.S. Veterans
Andrew Davidson of Troop 7 was honored at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor for completing a service project honoring U.S. veterans

SMITHTOWN, NY ā Suffolk County Comptroller John M. Kennedy Jr. and Legislator Leslie Kennedy joined family, friends, and fellow scouts on Sunday, Dec. 7, to honor Andrew Davidson of Troop 7 during his Eagle Scout Court of Honor at American Legion Post 833.
Davidson achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, Scoutingās highest honor, a distinction earned by only a small percentage of scouts due to its rigorous leadership, service, and merit badge requirements.
To reach the Eagle Scout rank, Davidson progressed through every level of Scouting, including Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life Scout, while completing required merit badges in areas such as first aid, communication, personal management, citizenship, camping, and emergency preparedness.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Davidson replaced a deteriorating fence at the American Legion Hall with two 50-foot fences featuring spotlights, purple peonies, and custom-made plaques bearing the insignia of each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Veterans at the post expressed gratitude for the project, which was designed as a lasting tribute to those who have served.
Suffolk County Comptroller John M. Kennedy Jr., an Eagle Scout himself, presented Davidson with a proclamation recognizing the achievement.
