Voter turnout in the Smithtown school district is on pace with the amount of voters that turned out last year.
"We are about 50 voters under what we were last year at about this time," said Smithtown District clerk Maureen O'Connor.
One Smithtown couple who declined to give their names said they voted in favor of the budget.
"All if our kids went through the schools here. It 's a wonderful district."
Another Smithtown resident, who declined to give her last name, said it was a bit if a non-event.
"The candidates are running unopposed. Not really too much to say, I voted in favor of the budget," she said.
At least one Smithtown resident we spoke to said theyΒ voted against the budget.
"I am against it," said Anthony, a retired New York City school teacher. "I live on a fixed income. Many if these teachers are making six-figure incomes," he said.
