This year’s party also celebrates the successful fundraising drive on behalf of the museum as reported in the Sag Harbor Express.

All proceeds, according to the Sag Harbor Express, will go directly toward the three-phase restoration of the Benjamin Huntting House, which began last year with repairs to the building’s exterior, including the restoration of finials on the roof and gutter repairs, as well as a full repainting of its exterior—a project estimated to cost at least $260,000.

As of Wednesday evening, fundraising for the porch had reached $22,355 of the the goal for the porch which is $24,750.

The Capital Campaign for the restoration of the building is also proceeding with tremendous success: with more than $200,000 of $260,000 raised thus far. The restoration of the museum is an ongoing project and plans could extend several years into the future.

“This could be a two to five year restoration plan, but we are in this for the long haul,” Ms. Barbara Pintauro-Lobosco, the head of the museum’s board said. “We love this building and we want to make sure we can use it in a way that serves the whole of our community.
