BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A beloved eatery in Bridgehampton, The Golden Pear Café, will close its doors after 30 years on Sunday, October 26, according to a post published in the Southampton Press.

"After 30 years of faithful service, meaningful relationships and contributions to the heart of this community, we are forced to say goodbye," a letter to the editor, written by Keith E. Davis, founder and chef, said.

Davis did not immediately respond to requests for comment by Patch.

"For 30 years, you welcomed us into your daily lives — for coffee, breakfast, lunch or celebrations. . . Though we depart Bridgehampton for now, The Golden Pear Cafes in Southampton and East Hampton remain open, and we continue seeking a new home in Bridgehampton. Hopefully, this is not goodbye forever — but only a temporary pause," Davis wrote in the letter to the Southampton Press.

The public expressed dismay at the news. "Sorry to see this after 30 years," one woman wrote on Facebook.
