Bridgehampton Students Hit Home Run With Yankees Blood Drive

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — Bridgehampton students hit a home run with their efforts to collect blood during two drives held this year.

The Bridgehampton Union Free School District’s National Senior and Junior Honor Societies won "Best High School" for the New York Blood Center's small division category, the district said.

Students, along with National Junior and Senior Honor Society adviser Marie Bouzos-Reilly, collected more than 50 pints of blood between two blood drives during the school year in October and April, the district said.

The New York Blood Center’s competition was sponsored by the NY Yankees, who invited students to a game on June 5 where they were honored for their dedication.

The school’s valedictorian Kimberly Villa was also awarded a $500 scholarship from the New York Blood Center for her efforts in collecting over 50 donations and for demonstrating "leadership, volunteerism, and community service in the planning and organization of the high school blood drive," the district said.
