Cops: Drunken Driver Punches Officer in the Face

Hampton Bays woman faces several charges after Nov. 15 arrest.

The following information was supplied by the Southampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Lisa A. Surgan, 31, of Hampton Bays, was arrested after police said she punched an officer after being pulled over on a suspicion of drunken driving on Nov. 15 at about 12:20 a.m.

Police stopped Surgan while she was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius east on County Road 39 for multiple vehicle and traffic violations, including operating her vehicle in the lane of the oncoming traffic, nearly causing a collision with an oncoming vehicle, they said. While in custody, Surgan allegedly punched an officer in the face.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated and obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, both misdemeanors, harassment in the second degree and disorderly conduct, both violations.
