Fresh Air Kids Get a Splash of a Welcome

15 city kids are getting an opportunity to visit the Hamptons this summer.

The Southampton Inn helped welcome 15 kids from New York City on Monday with a pool party, complete with a BBQ. The kids are visiting the Hamptons through a program, called the Fresh Air Fund.

Each summer, Hamptons residents open their homes to the children so they can experience a summer of fresh air and fun in the Hamptons.

This summer, the kids arrived by bus in Hampton Bays on July 11 and were greeted by their host families.

The 15 kids are just a few of 4,000 New York City children that get the opportunity to spend a summer out of the city in rural areas across the country through the Fresh Air Fund.

Susan Benson, one local host for the Fresh Air Fund said that she thinks her family gets more out of the program than even the kids do.

"Through The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly town get-togethers, host families and Fresh Air children in the Hamptons can meet and mingle, sharing experiences with one another while creating memories with one another," she said.
