Hollywood Producer Brings Mobile Serpico's Bread Co. To Hamptons
"At Serpico's, bread is not just a product — it's the foundation of everything we do."

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — For Jim Serpico, good pizza is all about the bread.
The Hollywood TV producer-turned-baker is taking Serpico's Bread Co. — a family-run, mobile cafe — on the road this summer, and he's heading to the Hamptons.
Serpico said he has imbued his mobile cafe with his deep-rooted "dedication to Old-World craftsmanship and modern flavor. It's not your run-of-the-mill pizza truck."

Serpico, who partnered with Denis Leary in Apostle Films, produced the movie "Blow" with Johnny Depp and the television series "Rescue Me," among other projects.
But no matter how far he traveled and the success he achieved in film and television, Serpico, who was born on Long Island, was always entranced by the tastes and memories of his heritage. He has said he developed a passion for recreating ancestral recipes from the “Immigrant Wave” of the 1920s.

And then, during the pandemic, that dream flourished: Serpico’s Bread Co. was born in 2020 as a way to reconnect with family and tradition.
"What began with a humble loaf at their family table has blossomed into a full-fledged culinary experience — where every bite tells a story of Italian heritage, love, and true artisanal culinary techniques," a release said.
A passionate baker, Serpico studied Nancy Silverton's famed grilled cheese techniques and learned how to make bread — as the basis for pizza — and beyond.
Serpico, who said his father was a revered bandleader among the New York Mafia, even has a podcast, "Bread for the People."
His mantra? "On the surface, it may seem like I'm just making pizza. But in reality, I am crafting a life filled with peace and purpose."
And, as he brings his artisanal loaves and Neapolitan, New York, Roman and Chicago-style pies to the East End, Serpico said: "At Serpico’s, bread is not just a product — it’s the foundation of everything we do. We’re excited to bring our passion for bread-making and high-quality food to the Hamptons this summer, and to connect with more people across Long Island."
Designed as a mobile cafe, Serpico’s features a Fiero Forni brick oven as well as butcher block to roll out dough and prepare food, a six-burner stove to slow-simmer sauce, and an additional oven and salamander to heat and broil food.
The back window allows hungry diners to watch the food prepared — customers only need to show up, hungry, he smiled.
Some specialties include: Fiery Three-Cheese Melt with Spicy Berry Jam (Serpico’s cheddar/jalapeño bread, cheddar, Gruyere, fontina and Spicy Berry Jam); a bread bowl with rigatoni and meatballs; and the Angry Neapolitan Pizza (which includes Cup and Char Pepperoni, multi tomatoes and a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey).
A selection of paninis are made on freshly-baked, high-hydration Schiacciata bread — which, Serpio said, is extremely hard to find outside of Florence, Italy.
Also offered are charcuterie boards and fresh salads.
Serpico's is available for summer parties, fundraises, beach bashes, corporate retreats, and more, bringing mouthwatering recipes and a taste of home.
Serpico’s bread Co. is also a "proud founding partner" of LI Pizza Strong, an organization that raises money in response to urgent needs on Long Island.
