RIVERSIDE, NY — The infamous Happy Face Killer advised suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann to confess, prompting the incarcerated former architect to write back, telling him he would take it to heart, wouldn't write anyone else, but then griped about the jailhouse's exercise and grub conditions, The Daily Mail has reported.

Keith Jesperson, who is serving life in Oregon for murdering eight women, writes other inmates and when he reached out to Heuermann, he told him that it would be better to confess and avoid a trial so that the prosecutors wouldn't get the chance to "gloat," according to the outlet.

Jesperson sent Heuermann's response to Keith Rovere, host of the podcast, "The Lighter Side of Serial Killers," who shared the letter with the outlet, showing Heuermann thanking Jesperson for his "letters and advise(sic)" and telling how they comforted him.

Heuermann was arrested July 14 in connection with the deaths of three of the Gilgo Four, all women who worked in the sex trade and whose bodies were found buried at Gilgo Beach.
The women include Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello.

He is the prime suspect in the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

Heuermann has also been linked to two other women, including Shannan Gilbert, whose disappearance led to the finding of 11 sets of remains, according to attorney John Ray.
Some of the remains included an Asian male and a toddler.

He has also been linked to Karen Vergata, who has been identified as the woman whose remains were found at Davis Park on Fire Island, as well as Gilbert, according to an attorney for the victims.

His attorney, Michael Brown of Central Islip, maintains his innocence.

Heuermann is due back in court on Feb. 6.
