Man Charged With Driving While Ability Impaired After East End Crash: Police

No injuries were reported, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired after a Southampton crash Sunday, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, at 9:02 p.m. an officer responded to a two-vehicle crash in the vicinity of County Road 39 and Tuckahoe Road.

Patrol units arrived at the scene and determined that the driver of one of the involved vehicles, while operating in an impaired condition, had struck the rear end of the other vehicle, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Juan Jose De La Rosa–Mares, was arrested and charged with DWAI, a violation, police said. De La Rosa–Mares was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters where he was processed and released on a uniform traffic ticket with a future arraignment date, police said.
