Man Charged With DWI After Southampton Crash: Police

The crash took place on County Road 39 Monday night, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton man was arrested after a crash on County Road 39 Monday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 6:24 p.m. near Tuckahoe Road.

Investigation done by officers at the scene revealed that one of the vehicles' drivers, James H. Lynch, 51, was operating while in an intoxicated condition, police said.

He was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing; he was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors, police said.

Lynch was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court; no injuries were reported in the crash, police said.
