Man Hit By Delivery Truck In Southampton Thursday: Police
He was struck on County Road 39, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man, 51, was hit by a delivery truck in Southampton Thursday morning, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, at about 6:52 a.m., a call came in about a vehicle that had struck the pedestrian in the eastbound left turning lane of County Road 39 near the intersection of North Sea Road.
Southampton Town police patrol units and Southampton Village Police responded. Southampton Town police detectives, as well as a member of the Southampton Town Police Department's drone unit, also responded for further investigation and crash diagramming, police said.

An initial investigation indicates the driver of a Poland Spring delivery truck was in the eastbound turning lane, slowing down to make a left onto North Sea Road, when a pedestrian crossed multiple lanes of stopped traffic from the south side of the roadway near Dunkin' Donuts and crossed in front of the truck, police said.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene, police said.

The pedestrian had severe but non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, police said.
County Road 39 was reduced to one eastbound lane for a period of time to conduct the investigation, police said. At this time, no criminality is suspected, police said.
