LONG ISLAND, NY — Despite a sea of soggy days, Memorial Day weekend appears to be shaping up for Long Islanders.

According to Bill Goodman, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Upton, scattered showers, turning to partly cloudy skies, and temperatures in the 50s will continue through Friday night.

Saturday is expected to be partly sunny, with a possible, isolated shower in the afternoon. Highs are slated to reach the mid 60s, with west winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour, gusting up to 25 miles per hour, he said.

Sunday is slated to bring mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 60s and west winds of about 10 to 15 miles per hour, Goodman said.

And on Monday, Memorial Day will be sunny and warm with highs in the lower 70s, he said.
