Photos: Residents Gather to 'Save Our Seagrass'

Fundraiser held at the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton on Saturday.

With the second annual Save Our Seagrass fundraising campaign underway, the South Fork Natural History Museum held an event on Saturday at the Brigehampton museum.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County and the South Fork Natural History Museum, in cooperation with the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation, Bay Burger, and First Coastal have again joined forces to raise funds to support local habitat restoration stewardship workshops and educational programming that will be offered by the Extension at SoFo in 2014.

Saturday's celebration featured locally harvested shellfish, craft beer from Montauk Brewing Company, wine from Woelffer Estate Vineyard & Channing Daughters Winery, and live music.

Funds raised from last year’s campaign enabled programming that resulted in over 7,000 shoots of eelgrass being restored in local bays, and creating essential habitat and spawning grounds for fin fish and shellfish species.
