Police: Southold Man Arrested for Boating While in Possession of Marijuana

The Southold Town Police have arrested a man for operating a boat while in possession of marijuana following a routine safety inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard.

On Saturday, June 28, at approximately 11:12 p.m., during a routine patrol, the Coast Guard observed a 19-foot boat in Southold Bay operating without navigation lights. They boarded the boat and subsequently found Matthew Jerome, 21, was operating the boat and in possession of marijuana.

Jerome was transported to the Mitchell Park marina where he was turned over to Southold Town Police. He was then taken to police headquarters and released on an appearance ticket for a later court date.
