Here are the top stories in Southampton today:
- According to the Town of Southampton press release, "2,500 at-home testing kits will be distributed throughout the Town of Southampton over the next two weeks by the Southampton Town Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management. The at-home COVID-19 testing kits will be distributed through partnerships with the Villages within Southampton Town, non-governmental community organizations and at local pop-up distribution sites." - Three incidents at Riverhead High School in recent days that include two students revived by Narcan and another who felt ill after ingesting an edible appear "unrelated" and not related to opioids or fentanyl, Riverhead Police Chief David Hegermiller said Tuesday. "This is not a crisis," Hegermiller told Patch. He said that just because Narcan was administered it "doesn't mean that there was an opioid overdose." Also, he said, as far as the investigation indicates so far, "it appears all" the incidents were "not caused by opioids or fentanyl.". (Riverhead Patch)
- Earth Brands, a biodegradable cup company was started by a Long Island college student and his friend. After sending billionaire Mark Cuban 50 cups to sample, the deal was struck. Cuban and a Wall Street private equity firm invested $1.75 million in the company. The cups are made from corn-based polymers, that would break down in 90 days when industrially composted.
