Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

  1. The NY state Cannabis Control Board granted conditional cultivator licenses to two more East End farms; Oregon Road Organics in Cutchogue and WJF Farms in Peconic and Bridgehampton Loam LLC. In total, seven Long Island farms have been granted conditional licenses. (Dan's Papers)
  2. U.S. health officials caution against making parallels between monkeypox and COVID-19. "The current risk to the public is low," said New York Health Commissioner Dr. Mary T. Bassett. (Patch)
  3. 'Hamptons 2.0' is what locals are calling the new trend of newbies coming to the Northfork and don't leave. Their attitude is that "this is our time" and locals should shop during the week, when they're not there, but in fact, they are still present. Most locals say they are not anti-tourist or against changing with the times, but they insist that newcomers be respectful of the area. (New York Post)
  4. ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that results in the progressive loss of motor neurons that control voluntary muscles β€” with no cure. I know this first-hand; my sister-in-law has ALS and has lost all ability in her legs and hands. Join the fight as "ALS patients and their families raise awareness with ALS Ride For Life." Please donate today! (News 12 Brooklyn)
