  1. 2022 Spring Youth Academy kick off! The academy is open to students in 9th, 10th, or 11th grades. It is a week-long program that "introduces kids from the community to the training that police officers go through, focuses on laws that govern police, investigations, physical training, defensive tactics, and more," the Southampton Town Police Department said. To apply, contact Southampton Town Police Department Lt. Susan Ralph via email at Sralph@southamptontownny.gov or by calling 631-702- 2247. Applications will be emailed or mailed to upon request. Completed applications will be accepted up until March 25. (Southampton Patch)
  2. According to Southampton Town, "Councilman Rick Martel will be partnering with Sheriff Errol Toulon for a seminar on administering naloxone, known as Narcan. In this training, you will be trained of the use of Narcan, a highly effective antidote for opioid overdoses." This in-person seminar will take place at the Westhampton Beach Fire Department on March 16, from 6-9 p.m. To sign up, please email May Zegarelli or call 631-287-5745. During the Long Island-Ukraine Emergency Drive, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office donated nearly 450 pieces of bulletproof body armor, medical supplies, sleeping bags and other essentials to Ukraine. "We stand with the people of Ukraine, and we want to offer our help any way that we can and I'm proud to announce that the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office is able to step up and provide materials that can help keep them safe," said Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon Jr. (News 12 Connecticut)
  4. On Sunday, March 13, Sag Harbor Cinema will screen “Maidan,” a documentary by renowned Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa, in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. "Loznitsa and his cameraman documented the shift from peace at the end of 2013 to January 2014, when riot police stormed the square following an ultimatum from the government ordering protestors to disperse," wrote Sag Harbor Express.
