Here are the top stories today in Southampton:

  1. The Parrish Art Museum presents its 2022 Student Exhibition, beginning on March 12 and running through April 24. The exhibition gives over 1,000 young artists from across the East End a chance to shine. According to Patch, "The exhibition opens with a private preview day for the artists, their families, and their teachers on March 12. Guests at the receptions will enjoy refreshments from South Fork Bakery, plus live performances by the Bridgehampton School Marimba Band, and musician/storyteller/naturalist Johnny Cuomo. The 'Young Artists Reception,' for Pre-K through Grade 8 students, is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m.; a 'High School Artists Reception' takes place from 3 to 5 p.m." (Southampton Patch)
  2. Suffolk County's National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) invites residents who are at risk for developing type-2 diabetes to participate, free of charge, in this program. According to the press release, to enroll in the Diabetes Prevention Program, residents must meet three criteria: Must be over the age of 18, and have a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 25 (23 for Asian Americans) AND one of the following: a score of 5 or higher on the CDC risk test, have had gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), or have had certain blood test results that indicate they are at risk for developing diabetes. To find out if you are at risk for diabetes, visit the website or call the Office of Health Education at 631-853-3162. (Press Release Desk)
  3. The East Hampton Town Board voted last Thursday to postpone the planned temporary closure of East Hampton Airport and its reopening as a new, private-use airport following an executive session to discuss the plan, which has incited furious opposition and multiple lawsuits by interests from airport users and the aviation industry.
