Here are the top stories in Southampton today:

  1. The Southampton Kiwanis Club chapter kicked off a project partnering with 50 volunteers to provide soup for the nonprofit Heart of the Hamptons. "Members of the Hampton Bays High School Key Club helped the Kiwanis Club by preparing 90 quarts of soup, in total, with all of the Key Club's help, they provided a total of 820 quarts," the district said.   2. Francisco Andres-Miguel, 45, a Flanders man "was arrested Sunday night after he drove drunk with three children in his SUV and almost hit a New York State trooper in Riverhead," police said. Andres-Miguel had a prior conviction and also, was charged with aggravated DWI with a child under the Leandra's Law — as well as with endangering the welfare of a child. "In addition, Andres-Miguel had an active stay-away order of protection preventing him from being with the three children in the vehicle, and as a result, he was also charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor," police said.   3. "A Riverside man pleaded guilty Tuesday to stabbing his girlfriend to death in front of her 9-year-old daughter, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said." Bayron Fajardo-Gonzalez pleaded guilty to an indictment in which he was charged with second degree-murder after he fatally stabbed his girlfriend in 2020, Tierney said. According to court filings and statements by Fajardo-Gonzalez, 34, who admitted to the stabbing, on August 10, 2020, he attacked Tania Fox, 45, after she had arrived back to the couple's residence with her daughter, Tierney said.   4. Alex Wolfe walked the distance across Long Island from the Verrazano Bridge to the Montauk lighthouse. Newsday wrote, "His journey covered nearly 160 miles over 9 days, stopping at iconic Long Island places along the way. Newsday's Michelle Romano tells the story." (Subscription: Newsday)
